Intern Carly Herda
We asked our summer intern, Carly to give us her thoughts on Pewaukee and our organization. Here is what she had to say.
Community is the word that first comes to mind when I think of Pewaukee. The dedication to taking care of your neighbors, your local businesses, and your environment is so profound and important to everyone that lives here. I have been the summer intern for Positively Pewaukee for three summers now and every year I am struck by the hard work and commitment of the community members to make Pewaukee the most welcoming place.
The power of this welcoming spirit is that even those that are not originally from this area find themselves feeling that same commitment to helping those in the community and keeping Pewaukee the beautiful place it is. Coming from Milwaukee I have never felt like an outsider in this community, in fact I would consider Pewaukee another home for me. It never ceases to amaze me how much members of the community do for each other.
Working for Positively Pewaukee these past few years has taught me so much about what it means to be a part of a community and taking pride in that. The work that this non-profit does is staggering and is a true testament to the nature of Pewaukee. As a young person I feel like my experiences with Positively Pewaukee have shaped me for the better; and I encourage others to get out and get involved in organizations like PP that make a difference in not only building that sense of community, but giving back to those in need in the community.
